Description: Known as nature's tranquilizer, valerian is said to reduce stress and insomnia, and relieve muscle spasms and cramps. Its been in use since the time of the Ancient Greeks and Romans and was known as "all-heal" in medieval times. Perennial to zone 4, plants grow up to 5' with fern-like foilage and sweet-smelling pink blooms.

Planting Instructions: Direct sow in early spring or start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost 1/4' deep in loose soil. Thin seedlings to about 1' apart. Prefers a sunny location. Can be propagated by root division in the fall. Can become invasive, but makes a great border.
