Ocimum basilicum

Strong anise/licorice basil flavor.Grows 12-18" high with small leaves and purple stems and flowers.  Great option for container garden.  Common ingredient in Southeast Asian cuisine, Thai basil retains it flavor better after cooking that other basil varieties.

60 days.  Start seeds indoors 6 weeks before the last frost.  Transplant seedlings into well-drained soil 10-12" apart after danger of frost has passed in a location that will provide a minimum of 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.  Direct plant seeds 1/4" deep after the last frost date, the soil should be at least 70ºF/21ºC.  Gets along well with tomatoes.  Great for container gardening.  Harvest frequently to encourage more growth and larger overall yields.  Pinch directly above where a pair of leaves are growing; two stems will result.  Pinch any flowers to encourage continued growth.
