New Zealand Spinach

$3.00

Tetragonia tetragonioides

Min Qty: 4g

Description: Noted in 1770 by Sir Joseph Banks, the botanist on Captain Cook's crew. Not a true spinach at all, and not as frost tolerant, although it lasts through a hot summer when other true spinaches bolt. 10-12" high, but spreads out and provides leaves that are slightly smaller and fuzzier than true spinach.

Planting Instructions: 50-60 days. Soak the seeds in water overnight to improve germination. Start seeds indoors 2-3 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds 1/4-1/2" deep in starting mixture and keep moist until germination. Transplant seedlings 12" apart after danger of frost has passed into a location with full sun to partial shade and rich soil. Harvest regularly to encourage growth.
