    Description: Native to Southeast Asia, where it has been used for thousands of years for its medicinal and culinary qualities. Imparts an interesting lemony flavor with its stalks that grow to 6' high in the tropics. Perennial in zones 9+. Good choice for an herb container garden, provides a striking vertical element. Can be repotted and brought in over winter.

    Planting Instructions: Start indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Sprinkle seeds in flats and cover with a thin layer of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist until seedling emerge in 14-21 days. Provide plenty of sunlight. Alternatley, sow seeds into a prepared bed in spring after the danger of frost has passed in a location with full sun. Transplant or thin seedlings to 12" apart. Mulch around plants to converse water and keep weeds down. Harvest leaves when plants are at least 10-12" tall; leaves will regrow all season. Harvest stalks at the end of the season.
