Description: Heirloom that dates back to the 1740's. Loose upright, triangular green leaves are perfect for a baby greens salad. Slow to bolt and doesn't turn bitter.
Planting Instructions: 50 days. Can be started indoors in cooler climates as early as March or outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Sprinkle seeds onto prepared beds or rows and cover with a layer of soil. Choose a location that gets full sun to partial shade in soil that is rich and well-drained. Keep evenly moist until seedlings emerge, ususally within a week or two. Thin seedlings or transplant from indoors to 8" apart when they a few sets of true leaves. Lettuce requires even mositure during the growing season and are heavy nitrogen feeders. Sow every 2 weeks for a continuous crop.
