Inula helnium
Related to daisies, elecampane is a Euopean native whose roots are dried and used as salves, balms and other topical products. A perennial in zones 4-9, elecampane is an easy-to-grow, showy flower that will brighten any garden.
Growing information: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost or direct sow after danger of frost has passed. Do not cover seeds, they require sunlight to germinate which takes 14-21 days. Prefers partial shade in a location with good drainage. Space plants 12-18" apart. Divide every 3-4 years.
