Description: This perennial species is an onion, native to the Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, India. Similar to common chives but with flat leaves. Subtle garlic flavor, can be used the same way as common chives. Plants grow about 12" high with flower stalks shooting up 30" topped by large, white flower heads that are edible.
Planting Instructions: 45 days. Hardy in zones 4-10. Sow seeds thinly in spring in a well-prepared seedbed, covering them lightly. Prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Thin seedlings 12'-18" apart. Regular cutting encourages spreading and to produce tender shoots. Plants can be divided every 3-5 years.
