Heirloom and Open-pollinated seeds

Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach

$3.00

Spinacia oleracea

Min Qty: 4g

Description: 1826 Heirloom, and still the most popular open-pollinated spinach available today. Glossy, crinkled leaves are rich in flavor and abundant. Excellent cold germination.

Planting Instructions: 42 days. Can be started indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/4-1/2" deep and keep evenly moist until they germinate in 10-18 days. Provide plenty of light so the seedlings don't become spindly. Transplant outdoors 12" apart as soon as the soil can be worked, and after hardening off the plants for 7-10 days. Alternately, directly seed into prepared soil as soon as it can be worked. Thin seedlings to 12" apart when they are 3-4" high. Keep evenly moist during growing season. Will bolt when exposed to warmer summer temps. For a fall harvest, direct seed by mid-summer.
