Apium graveolens
Min Qty: 0.5 g
Description: Like many vegetables, celery from the garden has a much richer and more complex flavor thatn what you find in the grocery store. This stringless variety boasts stalks that grow to 12". Will grow in most regions of the US, but needs a long season and proper irrigation to thrive.
Planting Instructions: 100 days. Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Scatter seeds on top of a sterile potting mix in flats or pots. Do not cover, as celery requires light to germinate. Keep evenly moist until germination, typically 2-4 weeks and warm, 70-75F. Transplant outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the plants have at least 2 sets of true leaves. Harden off plants 7-10 days before transplanting. Set plants 12" apart in well-prepared soil that is extremely rich and well-drained. Choose a location with full sun. Water them well. Celery is a heavy feeder, so fertilize every 2-3 weeks during the growing season.
