Daucus carota
Min Qty: 1.5 g
Description: Popular heirloom, probably from Afghanistan, with 1-1/2" deep orange round roots and sweet, tender flavor. Great snack-sized carrot! Good for container gardening.
Planting Instructions: 65 days. Plant in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked in well-prepared deep, loose soil, free of rocks. Sow seeds in shallow furrows 1/8"-1/4" deep, covering with a thin layer of soil, vermiculite or fine, screened compost in rows 6" apart. Keep soil moist to speed germination and prevent soil crusting. Seedlings should emerge in 10-25 days. Thin seedlings to 3" apart. For a continued harvest, plant every 2-3 weeks. For best flavor, do not allow to grow larger than 1-1/2".
