Spilanthes oleracea

A very unique flower that looks like a compact pom pom atop long stems that starts off red and gradually turns yellow.  A perennial in warmer climates, it can be grown as an annual.  Grows to 12-15" and flowers from midsummer until first frost.

Growing information: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost.  Seeds can be direct sowed outdoors, but the plants won't be as robust.  Spread seeds on the surface as they require sunlight to germinate, which takes about 7-14 days if kept 68-75F.  Keep soil moist, but do not overwater.  Transplant outdoors about 12" apart after the danger of frost has passed.  Pinch to encourage branching.  Heavy feeder that prefers rich soil and regular feedings of a balanced fertilizer.  Prefers full sun to partial shade.

Min qty/packet: 50 seeds
