Rattlesnake Pole Bean

$3.00

Phaseolus vulgaris

Min Qty: 60 Seeds

Description: The name comes from the purple streaks on the 6-7" pods with a green background. Easy to spot on the tall, 10' vines. Very versatile and profilic bean, used fresh, steamed, canned, frozen, pickled, or later on, dried.

Planting Instructions: 60-70 days for snap, 90- days for dried. Requires a trellis or fence, or combine with corn and squash or pumpkins for a 3 sisters garden. Plant seeds 1-1/2" deep 2-3" apart in well-drained soil after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Does not tolerate frost. Plant in a sunny location in rows 18-36" apart or around a trellis or support. Thin seedlings to 4-6". Frequent harvests increases production and keeps plants growing vigorously. For dried beans, let pods continue to mature until the beans rattle inside. If you need to continue the drying process, pull the entire plant and hang upside down.
