Pisum sativum
Min Qty: 60 Seeds
Description: First offered in the early 1900's and a favorite ever since. 3" to 3-1/2" pods yield abundant crops of 6-8 peas each that are tasty fresh, frozen or canned. 3' vines require support of a fence or other structure. Peas are very high in sugars but lose half their sugar content within 6 hours at room temp. So, for best taste, enjoy them fresh or keep cool to maintain flavor.
Planting Instructions: 70 days. Sow seeds as early as the ground can be worked. Plant 8-10 seeds per foot 1" deep on each side of a support in double rows about 6" apart. Space each set of rows 24-36" apart. Thin seedlings to 4-6" apart. Peas prefer cool weather. Start a second crop in late summer for a fall harvest, but an early frost will stop production of flowers and pods.
