Cicer arietinum
Min Qty: 60 seeds
Description: Also known as chickpeas, a tender annual legume that grows 18" tall and is frost tolerant. Have been grown in the Middle East for thousands of years. A good choice for container gardening.
Planting Instructions: 100 days. Direct plant seeds in well-prepared soil 2-3 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 1-1/2 to 2" deep 3-6" apart in rows 18-24" apart. Keep evenly moist until seedlings emerge. Once seedlings emerge, thin to 6" apart. To get a headstart, plant seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Can be eaten like snap beans when the pods are immature and still green. For dried beans, harvest the entire plant when the leaves have whithered and turned brown. Hang entire plant upside down until pods are finished drying.
