    Description:  1870's Heirloom. Great for winter storage and cooking, 6-8" stocky roots with a deep orange color.

    Planting Instructions:   75 days.  Plant in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked in well-prepared deep, loose soil, free of rocks.  Sow seeds in shallow furrows 1/8"-1/4" deep, covering with a thin layer of soil, vermiculite or fine, screened compost in rows 18-24" apart.  Keep soil moist to speed germination and prevent soil crusting.  Seedlings should emerge in 14-21 days.  Thin seedlings to 2-3" apart.
